I had the same issue when installing a package on a vm by copying the hyperlink target from the browser on my PC into the bash terminal on the vm, then using curl:

curl https://URL1...

I read your post and used file ... to get

I gather browsers handle this redirect automatically. Turns out, so does wget, so forget curl when doing copy-paste into the terminal like this.
