This is working fine during insert but not on update. In sybase i think there is no straight forward way to set default value while update. I posted a question regarding this and refer for more details here
Another option is make this column not null and make the developers set this value explicitly in service layers but in all the existing places we have to do the code change and this is not an option
Employee e = new Employee();
e.setId(1);
e.setName("Arun");
e.setUpdateDatetime(repo.findCurrentDatetime());
repo.save(e);
I believe we should not invoke EntityManager or make any query operations in Entity life cycle methods. If that is the case, then please suggest some good approach to achieve this requirement.
