Yale has been an integral part of the development and implementation of the Haskell programming language since its inception. We have helped to write the Haskell Report, written a tutorial on Haskell, and most recently Paul Hudak has published a textbook using Haskell: The Haskell School of Expression.

Today the focus of our group is on putting Haskell to work in the real world. We have use Haskell to construct a variety of Domain-Specific Languages: languages that use Haskell as a framework within which to build abstractions specific to an underlying domain

Many of our DSLs employ a framework we call Functional Reactive Programming. FRP was originally developed by Conal Elliott as part of the Fran animation system. We have extended FRP into areas such as robotics, computer vision, and user interfaces. If you want to try out the FRP style of programming you can use the Yampa system.

Another DSL that our group has built is Pan#, a language of interactive functional images originally developed by Conal Elliott.

Paul Hudak has developed the Haskore, a language of algorithmic music composition.
