WinCVS
WinCVS is a client application of CVS which runs on Windows and MAC. It can be obtained from wincvs.org and does not require any license.
WinCVS 1.0.6 has been installed at CERN in "\cern.chdfsExperimentsswcontribWinCvs1.0.6wincvs.exe". If your PC is connected to the CERN network, you can start it by simply typing "wincvs" at the DOS prompt.

Very good help is available within the application.
Short answer: You never need to obtain approval to use it. If
you *redistribute* it, you still don't need approval, but you
need to do certain things (like make the source available).
Long answer: read the GPL. It's not that painful. Really. It's
the COPYING file in the CVS distribution, or
